Understanding Self Esteem

Self-esteem is your inner view of yourself.

Others may give you other-esteem, that is, they like and respect you, but you can have low self-esteem nonetheless if your inner view of yourself is of a person not good or not worthy. A person may feel a fraud, and worry that others may not like him if they knew what he was REALLY like. Self-esteem is a thought process that translates to a feeling.
