Normal Grief Reactions


Two primary ingredients in grief are (1) the experience of loss (including anticipated loss), and (2) emotional pain. See below the feelings, physical sensations, cognitions and behaviors that are associated with grief. Note that depression and grief are different, although they may manifest similar characteristics (sleep disturbance, appetite disturbance, and intense sadness).
